Marathon Training: Week 4 Run 4

We are in a heat advisory so I knew it was going to be a hard run. I woke up earlier that my usual Saturday. Unfortunately it was raining out so I slept in a little longer. When I woke it was hot and muggy out. Perfect for a run!

Today was supposed to be be a 6 mile pace run. The heat put the breaks on the pace part of the run. I fully hydrated myself and set out on my way. Before the run I spent 30 minutes on the basketball court warming up the legs. After I was good and sweaty I downed another Gator Aid and was on my way.

As I hit the first half mile I know the pace plan was not going to happen. I set back into a comfortable slow pace and just put one foot in front of the other. I had to walk a few times as the heat was getting to me. The walking parts added about 5 extra minute to my normal sub 60 minute 6 mile training pace. It did not feel great but I got it done. Tomorrow I am suppose to do 11 miles. Not sure if that is possible with the current condition my legs are in right now. We will see what happens.

I did some stretching and pushups after the run while I waited for my body to stop sweating.
